Funeral services for James J. Chilcott age 87 of Wisner, NE will be on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wisner, NE. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Public Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is handling the arrangements for the family.

Jim passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Stanton Health Center in Stanton, NE.

James J. Chilcott was born on December 21, 1929 in Norfolk, NE to Harvey and Agnes (Knoll) Chilcott. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner, NE. Jim attended Cuming Co. Rural School District #11. He lived in the Wisner-Pilger area all his life. Jim farmed, had various trucking jobs, fed cattle, and raised hogs.

On August 11, 1962, he was united in marriage to Dona Carrell at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk, NE. They lived on a farm northwest of Wisner.

Jim was fond of animals and very protective of his cats.

Jim enjoyed music and dancing, especially polka music and going to polka dances when he was able. He also enjoyed Western movies and visiting with people. He could easily strike up a conversation with strangers.

In his later years, Jim faced numerous physical problems limiting his activities.

Sister-in-law-Betty Ristow of Plainview, NE
Nieces and nephews

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sisters-Kathryn Bordner and Margaret Keller.
