Obituary for Adam Skoda

Adam  Skoda
Mass of Christian Burial for Adam Skoda age 42 of West Point, NE will be on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, NE. Interment will be in the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point and will continue at the church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation in Adam's name.

Adam passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE.

Adam James Skoda was born on November 24, 1974 at Seward, NE to Steven and Sharon (Liska) Skoda. Adam attended elementary school in Kearney for two years and Lincoln Public Schools, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1993. He participated in the East/West Shrine Football Game. Adam attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a member of the Husker Football team as a middle linebacker, and was on the 1994 and 1995 National Championship teams. He received his B.A. in Education from UNL and began teaching and coaching in Marshalltown, IA. Adam also taught in Lincoln at Culler Middle School and Lincoln Northeast. He was involved in coaching football at Lincoln High and girls’ soccer coach at Lincoln Northeast. Adam was currently teaching science at West Point-Beemer Public Schools and was serving as an assistant football and track coach.

On August 23, 2003, he was united in marriage to Leigh Hahn in Omaha, NE.

Adam was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. He enjoyed fishing, playing poker, watching sports, coaching at the YMCA and youth sports that his children participated in. Adam was inducted into the Lincoln High Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.

Adam cherished the time he got to spend with his children and family.

Son-Alex Skoda, who is attending UNL
Daughters- Jocelynn, Paisley, and Quinn Skoda of West Point
Parents- Steve and Sharon Skoda of Lincoln, NE, currently working in Kerrville, TX
Paternal Grandmother-Violet Branch of Seward, NE
Parents-in-law-Kenneth and Kathleen Hahn of Omaha, NE
Sister-Sarah and Juan Hernandez of Lincoln, NE and daughters-Mireya and Naiya
Brother-in-law- Jeff Hahn of Omaha, NE
Sister-in-law-Kacey and Drew Stauder of Omaha, NE and daughter-Logan
Adam is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather-Richard Skoda, maternal grandparents-Eugene and Rose Liska, and a cousin-Jake Smaus.
