Glen W.  Vollmer
Funeral services for Glen W. Vollmer age 76 of Wisner, NE will be Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family suggests that memorials be designated to the family for future designation in Glen's name.

Glen passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

Glen Willis Vollmer was born November 13, 1940 to William and Laura Schademann Vollmer in West Point, Nebraska. He was baptized on December 8, 1940 by Pastor Dorn at Zion Lutheran Church south of Wisner. He attended School District #9 and Zion Lutheran School. On April 11, 1954 he was confirmed by Pastor Gerike. He graduated from Wisner High School in 1958.
In January of 1959 he was drafted into the Army serving in Korea for 13 months. He was honorably discharged in 1964 from the Army Reserves. On November 16, 1963 Glen was married to Carolyn McCutchen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, NE by Pastor Eugene Vetter. To this union were born three sons Dennis, Mark and Jason.
Glen lived on the same farmstead all his life retiring in 2001 for health reasons. He was a lifelong member of Zion St. John’s Lutheran Church where he held various church offices. He worked 17 years selling insurance for Farmer’s Mutual Home Insurance of Hooper, Nebraska and 16 years for Kuzelka Minnick Funeral Home. His favorite hobbies were watching his sons and grandchildren grow up and following their sports activities. He also pitched fast-pitch softball for over 25 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 5767 of Wisner.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn of Wisner, three sons and their wives and 9 grandchildren.

Son – Dennis and Barb Vollmer of Omaha, NE and family
Taylor Vollmer, Turner and Sarah Vollmer, Tommie Vollmer and fiancé Olivia Harrison, and Trevor Vollmer
Son – Mark and Melissa Vollmer of Hamilton, MO and family
Elizabeth Vollmer and Lindsay Vollmer
Son – Jason and Jennifer Vollmer of Layton, UT and family
Trenton Vollmer, Christian Vollmer, Michaela Vollmer

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Casey John Vollmer.
