Funeral services for Dorothy Hoover age 98 of Wisner, NE will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE. Interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Tuesday at the church from noon until service time.

Dorothy passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Wisner Care Center.

Dorothy was born on October 19, 1918 in Wisner, NE to Ernest T. and Caroline (Hottendorf) Huettmann. She was baptized and confirmed at the Christ Lutheran Church. Dorothy graduated from Wisner High School in 1935 and received her normal training from Wayne State Teachers College. She taught in rural schools for four years.

On May 24, 1940, she was united in marriage to Wesley M. Hoover in Oakland, NE. They lived with Wesley’s parents, Bert and Josephine Hoover, until they built their own home in 1952. The four of them operated Hoover’s Café in Wisner for over 50 years. Upon Bert and Josephine’s retirement, Wesley and Dorothy continued to operate the café until 1978.

Dorothy was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner. She enjoyed dancing, was always well dressed wherever she went, and enjoyed gambling. She loved her grandchildren and always made sure they had something special from their grandma.

2 Grandsons-
Curtis and Heather and their son Tanner
Mark and Amy and their daughters Amanda and Brooke
Brother- Robert Huettmann of Portland, OR

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wesley on May 5, 1982, and two brothers-Theodore, Sr. and Ernest Huettmann.
