Funeral services for Howard Graber age 87 of Wisner, NE will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE. Interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery with Military Honors by Wisner V.F.W. Post #5767. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Howard passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, IA.

Howard Graber was born on May 7, 1929 to John and Frances (Braucht) Graber. He attended Wisner School until his senior year which he completed at Fremont High School. After high school he worked for Wisner Farm Equipment for four years. Howard served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, serving on the USS Hornet.

On April 28, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary Westerhold at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Pender, NE. Howard continued his employment at Wisner Farm Equipment and also farmed on the side. In 1972, the family moved to Emerson, where Howard went into partnership in a Farm Equipment Dealership. He was appointed to the Village Board of Emerson. In 1976, Howard purchased Wisner Farm Equipment and the family returned to Wisner.

Howard was elected to serve three terms on the Wisner City Council and was elected Mayor in November of 1994.

Howard was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Wisner V.F.W. Post #5767.

Son- Curt and Stephanie Graber of Ft. Wayne, IN and family
Austin and Sarah Graber
Brandon Graber
Son-Gary Graber of Waukegan, IL

Step-brother- Duane and Donna Pockrandt of RidgeCrest, CA

Howard was preceded in death by his father-John Graber, his mother-Frances Hain, and his brother-Buzz Graber.
