Funeral services for Stan Herrick age 60 of Wisner, NE will be on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wisner City Auditorium. Interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Monday from noon until the time of the service at the Wisner City Auditorium.

Stan passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE.

Stanley Craig Herrick was born on May 22, 1956 at Council Bluffs, IA to Robert and Helen (Carter) Herrick. He attended school in Council Bluffs through the 5th grade and was on the School Safety Patrol from 1966-1968. The family moved to Norfolk, NE and Stan graduated from Norfolk High School in 1974. He enlisted in the United States Navy Seabees in 1974.

On August 24, 1974, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Deitloff at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk, NE. In 1977, Stan began serving on the Norfolk Police Reserves and later graduated from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center on June 20, 1980. He worked as a Chief Deputy in the Stanton Co. Sheriff’s Department and later as a Chief Deputy in the Wayne Co. Sheriff’s Department until December of 1988. In January of 1989 he joined the Cuming Co. Sheriff’s Department and was a Chief Deputy at the time of his passing. Stan also had worked part-time in the Tire and Lube Department at Walmart in Norfolk for 19 years.

Stan was a member of the Sons of the American Legion for 29 years, member of the National Rifle Association since 1970 and obtained his Sharpshooter certificate in 1973, member of the Fraternal Order of Police, member of the Nebraska Law Enforcement Intelligence Network, and the Blue Knights. He enjoyed spending his spare time riding his motorcycle.

Cassandra, Kiley, Kaelyn, Corianne and Keira
Daughter-Amanda and Brice Buryanek of Sergeant Bluff, IA
Parents- Robert and Helen Herrick of Norfolk, NE
Sister-Diane and Gene Cederburg of Pierce, NE
Brother-Brian and Jennifer Herrick of Battle Creek, NE
He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
