Funeral services for Robert L. Fillmer age 85 of West Point, NE will be on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point, NE. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE. The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or St. Paul Lutheran School in West Point, NE.

Bob passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont, NE.

Robert Lester Fillmer was born on November 29, 1930 in West Point, NE to Fred Lester and Christina Marie (Johnson) Fillmer. He attended Guardian Angels School. He helped his mother at the Council Oaks Grocery Store. On November 12, 1953, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Groteluschen at the Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh, NE. Bob had worked for Cuming Co. R.E.A., the State of Nebraska Roads Department, helped various contractors, and operated a vending machine business for 20 years. Bob had also worked for Hoegemeyer Seeds in the fall for several years.

Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #70, and the West Point Group of Alcoholics Anonymous. He enjoyed spending time with his dog and took great pride in the former Cuming Co. School District #81, that he remodeled into their current home.

Bob is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
