Private family memorial services for Lola Lea Persson age 79 of West Point, NE will be on Monday, October 5th. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to the family for future designation.

Lola passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at her home.

Lola Lea Peterson was born on December 1, 1935 at Wausa, NE to Ralph and Minnie (Whaley) Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bancroft, NE. Lola attended Burt County Rural School District #33 and graduated from Bancroft High School in 1953.

On June 13, 1953, she was united in marriage to Harry Persson at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Pender, NE. The couple lived on a farm north of Bancroft until moving to a farm near West Point in 1964. Lola was an active farm wife while raising her family.

Lola enjoyed doing crafts, whether it was sewing, quilting, or mending. She also made Whamit dolls which she sold as a fundraiser for the Cuming Co. Relay for Life. Lola loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and was known for her great sense of humor.

She is also survived by a sister-in-law-Eunice Glissman of Pender, NE.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Gwen Kaup, sister-Jean Bray, and brothers-Larry Peterson and Donny Peterson.
