He attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School and in 2001 received his honorary high school diploma from Beemer Public Schools. After graduating from the 8th grade, he helped on the family farm and at the age of 14 moved with his family to a farm near Wisner. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 and was stationed in Germany. Upon being honorably discharged from the service he returned to the family farm. Francis was very proud of his service to his country.

On April 20, 1955, he was united in marriage to Bernadette Wordekemper at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at rural West Point, NE. The couple farmed near Wisner and in 1978 moved to Beemer after building their new home. Francis ran the maintainer for Beemer Township from 1989 until 1999. He then hauled corn for Louis Dinklage Inc. and part-time for Powder Hill Feedlot until his retirement.

Francis was a very active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir and had served as the choir director, and was one of the first EME’s. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2272, American Legion Post #159 and had served as Post Commander. Francis had formerly served on the Cuming Co. Rural School District #39 School board, was instrumental in forming the Beemer Bobcat Booster Club and was one of Santa’s Helpers for many years.
