Carol Jean Kotik Lierman was born January 1, 1938 to Beulah (McLaughlin) and Frank Kotik. Carol was the 2nd of 4 children. She had an older brother Richard and twin sisters, Dorothy (Krusemark) and Delores (Anderson). Carol attended grade school and HS in Beemer Nebraska. Carol met the love of her life, Irvin Lierman at an early age growing up in Beemer. Irv and Carol dated throughout Carol’s high school years when she was a Cheerleader, Band Majorette and Baton twirler. Carol was the HomeComng Queen of her Senior Class of 1955. Irvin and Carol married the summer following her graduation on July 17, 1955. The couple was blessed with five adorable Children Brian (Rita Stutzman), Cherie (Kevin Kreikemeier), Terri (Dave Ridder), Julie (Patrick Bruning) and Kristie (Adam Steffen).
Throughout their life together Carol and Irv loved the outdoors. Many family events were held, involving outdoor cookouts of which Carol was famous for her BBQ Chicken on the grill, roast turkey and dressing and Potato Salad. Carol was also famous for her pan fried catfish and creamed squirrel and rabbit.
Carol and Irvin spent all of the years together raising their children on the farm. Carol also worked over 20 years at Wimmers Meat Products and then worked over 10 years at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Housekeeping where she was a well known “Decorator” of seasonal displays at the ER entrance. Carol also worked part time in the St. Joseph’s Helping Hands Department helping people in their homes.
Carol and Irvin are lifelong members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Beemer. Carol and Irvin enjoyed following their children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Carol had an endless love of all people she met. She was always ready to greet you with a infectious smile. She was well known for sending a “single” rose to those suffering from illness as they passed from this world.
As Carol suffered through her Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis, many of her closest friends were there to help along the way to ease her suffering. Special Thanks go out to Mary Neiman (her non-biological sister), Barb Nitsche, Judy Hassler, Rhonda Ehrisman, Karen Spenner and all of the Hospice Nurses and Volunteers. All of your Loving Care is appreciated beyond words.
