Obituary for Selma Neisius

Funeral services for Selma Neisius age 99 of Stanton, NE will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Stanton, NE. Interment will be in the Pilger Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner, NE and will continue on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.

Selma passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Stanton Health Center in Stanton, NE.
Selma Louise Neisius was born on June 14, 1915 near Pierce, NE to Albert and Lena (Weigel) Kirschmer. She was baptized and attended country school until they moved to a farm near Page, NE in 1920. Selma was confirmed at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Orchard, NE in 1927. She attended high school until her sophomore year when she stayed at home to care for her ailing mother. In 1934, she was united in marriage to Ray Neisius at the St. John’s Lutheran Parsonage in Stanton, NE. In 1936, they bought a farm near Page, NE where they lived until 1953. At that time they purchased the café in Pilger and operated it until 1961. Selma was then employed at the Pilger School until she retired after 17 years.
Selma moved to the Stanton Health Center, where she resided for six years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pilger, it’s Ladies Aid, and Bible Class. Selma was active at the Senior Center, belonged to an Activity Club, Literary Club and the Jolly Jokers Card Club. Selma’s favorite pastime was listening to her talking books.

Daughter-in-law- Myrna Neisius of Norfolk, NE
8 Grandchildren-Kim and Dean Thies of Pilger, Kerry Neisius of Pilger, Jay and Syndie Neisius of Omaha, Dan and Cindy Neisius of Lincoln, Douglas and Amy Neisius of Lee’s Summit, MO, Deanne and Randy Lewchuk of Norfolk, Christy Babutzke and Trevor Denholm of Omaha, NE and Craig and Suzy Neisius of San Diego, CA.

Selma was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1995, Son Garry in 2012, grandson Dennis Neisius in 1981, sisters- Irene Wolverton and Wilma Crotty, and brother- Herb Kirschmer.
