Funeral services for Arlene C. Johnson age 81 of Fremont, NE formerly of Wisner, NE will be on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE with interment in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, NE with a public prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Arlene passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the AJ Merrick Manor in Fremont, NE.

Arlene Caroline (Horst) Johnson was born December 26, 1930 at Beemer, NE to Antonia (Beerbohm) and Henry Horst. She was baptized on January 24, 1931 and confirmed on April 2, 1944 by Rev. G.C. Falskin at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beemer, NE. Arlene attended Beemer Elementary and graduated from Beemer High School in 1948. She went on to attend Norfolk Junior College and was employed at First National Bank in Beemer, NE. On June 17, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lee R. Johnson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beemer, NE. The couple moved to Wisner in 1953.

Arlene was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE for many years, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of St. Paul’s Ladies group, and the fellowship club. She was currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, NE. Arlene enjoyed volunteering at the Wisner Senior Center, Wisner’s Heritage Museum, at church and putting puzzles together.

Randy and wife Mary Johnson of Omaha, NE
Jay Johnson of Omaha, NE
Daughter- Beth and husband Neal Richard of Omaha, NE
11 Grandchildren 12 Great Grandchildren

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Lee on April 14, 2001 and a sister Lorna Horst.
